I have a lot of ambitious people among my friends. And when I compare what month they were born in with what the research says, it fits: people born in specific months actually show traits of people who have fairly high goals. But their strategies, or what they want to achieve, differ. We all need a goal for our lives, and we all want to move somewhere. But sometimes it’s better to set a rather lower bar. In my experience, high ambition can lead to disappointment. But you can’t explain that to some people.
In the past, I’ve wanted to move too fast in life. In my professional life, I was successful, but then I got stuck in a high position and had nowhere else to go. And without a goal, my motivation to work faded. Now I prefer to progress slowly and surely and spread out my ambitions fairly for my personal, professional and love life. In fact, moving quickly in one area has cost me not only a loss of motivation, but also a slower climb in the others.
Some people want too much. It’s not always a good thing
An ambitious person is usually thought of as someone who has clear goals and is willing to do whatever it takes to achieve them. In my opinion, this is generally seen as a positive trait. It’s just that in some ways it’s a risk. It’s questionable. I personally admire ambitious people, but at the same time, in some ways, they irritate me. And I also worry about whether achieving their goals will ground them rather than satisfy them, like me.
“If ambition is too strong or misdirected, it can lead to irrational pressure to perform, which can disrupt personal well-being, interpersonal relationships, and lead to chronic stress,” says psychologist Julie K. Norem. Moreover, as the 2025 research notes, ambition can be a double-edged sword, linked to both career success and the willingness to take ethical shortcuts to achieve success.”
━━ Do you want to win and have big goals? The truth is that people are often unaware of this quality.

Everyone has ambition. But not everyone can be said to be ambitious. According to scientists, the most ambitious people are born in specific months.
- January: people born in January know that it’s not a sprint. Rather, to achieve what you desire, you need more time and a lot of perseverance. Therefore, these persons follow a long term and consistent plan through which they slowly get to the goal. This is very positive on the one hand, however, sometimes they are not willing to step back from their standards and conform to their surroundings because they are simply afraid of losing their progress.
- April: if a person is born in April, they are usually energetic and eager to move forward. While this may provide a degree of drive that energizes him, when such a person then reaches a goal, it often takes him a long time to find a new one.
- August: persons born in this month are communicative and confident, their goal is primarily to surround themselves with people who will love them but also give them something in life. On the one hand this is good, no one wants to have people around them that drag us down. On the other hand, ambitious August persons often push good friends away from them because they feel that these people have nothing to give them in life.
- September: These people are prone to perfectionism. Everything around them has to be perfect. And that goes for themselves as well. Often they set their goals too high, or get involved in many areas at once. It’s not enough for them to be perfect in one area, they want to be the best in everything. So they are often disappointed with their own results. An example of this is a friend of mine who is great at his job, has a wonderful family and succeeds at everything he touches. Except for a recent photography competition in which he came second. And although that is also an excellent performance and we all remind him of it, you can see how much this “failure” in his words bothers him.
