For some, flying is like travelling by bus or train. For others, it’s something special. But travellers from both camps make a few mistakes. Of course, these are mistakes that they don’t even realize. But unfortunately, in some cases, they can also be safety issues. That’s why the airlines are trying to draw attention to it.

Quickly on the plane

Many people want to be fast on the plane. However, this certainly won’t speed up their departure. When the gate assistants start the boarding process, the plane is often not even ready yet. So if you rush forward, you’ll likely be stuck standing in the tight gangway until the plane actually opens. It is better not to rush and to be able to move freely in front of the gate for a longer period of time, or to refill your water or have something to eat.

Comfort first

Obviously, you should be comfortable on a long flight. Often passengers take their shoes off. Others may not be offended, but you should at least wear shoes when moving around the plane. Few people think that even on a plane there can be a lot of germs that are easy to catch. Don’t want uncomfortable shoes on the plane? Invest in a pair of slippers that are easy to put on.

Tap water

If you’re looking to save money, you may have thought about refilling your water from the toilet tap on the plane. However, it may not be entirely drinkable. It comes from the plane’s tanks, which are cleaned regularly, but that certainly doesn’t guarantee that this water is good to drink without overboiling. You certainly don’t want to be sick before you arrive at your holiday destination or have digestive problems.

Hand luggage

People often put their small backpacks and handbags in the overhead compartments on the plane. Ideally, they should be stored under the seat in front. Airlines often solve this problem by announcing. Passengers often think that everything has to be overhead. But then the compartments fill up quickly and larger pieces of hand luggage have to be put in the hold.

Seat belts

You don’t need to wear your seatbelt all the time on a plane, as you would in a car. However, think carefully before unbuckling your seatbelt. Turbulence can occur unexpectedly at any time during the flight. The biggest risk is being thrown upwards and hitting your head on the underside of the overhead compartment. You could cause yourself a pretty nasty injury. It often takes a while for flight attendants to report turbulence. You’d better be prepared.

Passenger problems

Unfortunately, even on the plane, the staff can’t avoid problems with passengers. For this reason, flight attendants and others keep a close eye on everyone and can tell at a glance if someone is going to cause problems during the flight. They can often tell by a shaky gait or a whiff of alcohol on the breath. These are said to be the main warning signs. The information is passed discreetly between the staff.
